Benkenstrasse 10 – 14
An old, partly dilapidated building complex was repurposed. A day care center, day care center, classrooms, a youth center with a disco and multi-purpose rooms were combined to form a whole. The two old buildings, one directly on the street and the other set back, remained as external pillars of the overall complex. The building on the street side was converted into a youth center, while the rear building with its garden houses the daycare center. In between is a new building that incorporates the elements of the existing houses, such as the sloping roof, the basic shape of the building and the wooden facade. The connection to the rear building is created by a modern glass cube that cuts into both buildings. Everything has been adapted for the disabled and is now wheelchair accessible.
