Gerbergasse 54

The property at Gerbergasse 54 is located in the pedestrian zone of Basel’s old town. The building was constructed in 1957 by the architects Gass and Boos. Since the building structure was no longer in excellent condition and no longer complied with today’s requirements and guidelines, the entire building services and elevator system had to be renovated. Furthermore, fire protection and energy measures were carried out. The retail space is now spread over the entire first floor and extends over two floors. The 2nd floor has space for a doctors’ praxis, office or dance studio. On the two floors above, apartments and studios have been created. A lodgia facing the busy Gerbergasse on the 3rd and 4th floors provides an extension of the living space, as well as a buffer zone against the noise of the alley. In the attic, the maisonette apartment was upgraded by the large terrace and the additional balcony with evening sun.
