Martinskirchplatz 1

The corner building on Martinskirchplatz is located in the heart of Basel’s old town and has been converted into a small guest house. In addition to a newly installed passenger elevator, the reception area is located on the first floor, three spacious guest rooms with bathrooms on the 1st to 3rd floors and a breakfast room on the top floor. Access to the terrace gives guests a wonderful view over the Rhine. The entire building services installations were renewed and the building was connected to the district heating network. The color scheme of the facade was coordinated in consultation with the monument preservation authorities and a design concept was developed that takes the existing building fabric into account while still setting unmistakable accents of contemporary architecture. In collaboration with the artist «Claire Basler» murals were created that emphasize the exclusive interior fittings in walnut and burnished brass.
